Work Packages

WP1 - Project Management, Communication and Dissemination
WP1 coordinates the UNITE project by facilitating effective collaboration, monitoring progress, managing finances and mitigating potential risks. It also oversees compliance with legal and ethical standards, establishes data management procedures, develops annual work plans and upholds high quality of project deliverables. In addition, WP1 emphasises communication and dissemination by establishing the UNITE graphic identity, launching the project website, producing engaging content and promotional materials, and creating a cloud-based digital platform to enhance collaboration and maximise the project's impact on key audiences.

WP2 - Mission Governance and Interregional Ecosystem Orchestration
WP2 oversees the governance and orchestration mechanisms of the UNITE initiative, providing the necessary support for effective interregional coordination. It employs key methods such as the Joint Mission, Joint Mission Governance Board, Ecosystem Working Groups and the Ecosystem Agreement, all of which work together to manage regional innovation ecosystems. WP2 ensures the alignment of the UNITE's goals with regional and European strategies, advancing digital health innovation, preparing regions to seize long-term strategic opportunities and supporting the sustained growth of the UNITE partnership.

WP3 - Consolidating and Advancing the Regional Ecosystems Services and Capabilities
WP3 focuses on strengthening regional ecosystem capabilities for developing, deploying and cross-border scaling of innovative digital health solutions. It actively engages relevant penta-helix stakeholders in the UNITE activities, delivers targeted training courses and facilitates joint regional co-learning initiatives, including testing innovative procurement methods and conducting agile experimentation. Additionally, WP3 unifies distributed regional services into a cohesive and user-friendly service catalogue, emphasising support for startup growth, testbed and living lab services, as well as health data services in the partner regions.

WP4 - Penta-Helix Engagement to the Open Calls for Digital Health Innovation Portfolio
WP4 ensures the involvement of the most suitable organisations from partner regions in the open calls designed to address ambitious Innovation Challenges in the digital health domain and it develops a digital health innovation portfolio, including Joint Innovation Projects and Pre-Commercial Procurements. It focuses on raising awareness of these opportunities through interregional promotional campaigns and facilitates matchmaking among various stakeholders to form consortia and establish interregional digital health value chains.

WP5 - Build Up and Empower Interregional Digital Health Value Chains
WP5 facilitates the renewal and creation of new interregional commercial and technology value chains by leveraging multidisciplinary complementarities and synergies across the UNITE regions. To accomplish this, WP5 conducts opportunity analyses, organises strategic matchmaking and supports emerging value chains in validating assumptions, prototyping joint solutions and developing business model concepts. Ultimately, WP5 promotes cross-regional collaboration to tackle market fragmentation and enhance competitiveness across Europe.

WP6 - Open Calls for Digital Health Innovation Portfolio
WP6 builds on the joint action plans and capacity-building work from previous work packages to launch and manage open calls for Joint Innovation Projects and Pre-Commercial Procurements. More specifically, WP6 defines conditions and evaluation criteria for the open calls, evaluates submitted proposals, provides regional support to selected projects, and promotes their benefits and findings. The goal is to collaboratively develop and implement advanced digital health solutions across the UNITE regions, while addressing gaps in digital innovation uptake and tackling value chain fragmentation.

WP7 - Results Exploitation
WP7 conducts continuous analysis and impact assessment of the UNITE activities, disseminates results to a broad range of stakeholders, identifies success factors and barriers for interregional collaboration and provides recommendations for regulatory development in digital health innovation ecosystems. It ensures the long-term sustainability of project outcomes and ongoing support to open call grant beneficiaries for scaling up innovative digital health solutions and securing further funding opportunities. WP7 also expands the partnership to new regions strongly aligned with the UNITE vision and secures their commitment.
